Agricultural Engineer will develop crop and weather specific advisories; assist in the delivery of agro meteorological products and services (information, warnings, and advisories) to farmers and feedback response. The Agricultural Engineer will need to develop a strategy for an efficient diffusion of information to the relevant end users. He/She will assist in clarifying additional proposed outcomes and activities and oversee calibration. The Agricultural Engineer will contribute to Agro meteorology research activities and prepare and write reports.
- Advance University degree in Agriculture, Meteorology or with subsequent specialization in Agricultural Meteorology.
- M.S. in Agronomy / Agro meteorology, Agriculture, Environmental Studies or closely related fields;
- Minimum of 1 year of progressive and relevant experience in the field of agro-meteorology;
- Technical knowledge of the implications of climate change on agriculture is critical.
Experience in the Following:
- Development of early warning systems for agriculture;
- Erecting and maintaining weather stations or equivalent maintenance and calibration of sensors.
- Developing a platform for the exchange of agro meteorological information;
- Working and collaborating with government mandated weather departments is an asset;
- Coastal adaptation and/or disaster risk reduction is an asset.
